Are you guys sick of me talking about Alt Summit yet? Well, this is a fun, craft-related post about it, I promise! The big party this year at Alt is going to be a Clue-themed party! I think this is such a fun idea! Now, I think that the planners are hoping for a rainbow of dresses where each person wears a main color related to one of the characters. But I am going with mostly neutrals and staying more true to the Clue movie's Mrs. Peacock.
I am wearing some blue pops of color, though. And I'm going to tell you about the little details about the outfit details after the jump!
So I felt like I really needed a giant peacock feather fascinator thingy, and I have a giant bag of feathers that I inherited from another crafter's destash. I wired together a group of feathers and then topped it off with a blue teardrop pendant I found at Hobby Lobby (side note - I am so, SO stoked that a Hobby Lobby just opened up here!). I stuck the whole shebang on a simple elastic headband, and with my new cropped hairdo, it is perfect!
The other cool thing I want to point out in this picture are those shiny wrench earrings. I wanted to have some kind of weapon component to the outfit, but I didn't know how I could bring a real wrench or realistic knife, gun, etc. on the plane. So I found these earrings on Etsy by Fabrication Unlimited. I got mine in mirrored gold.
Another cool Etsy find were these vintage cat eye glasses from PurplePeacock48220. I am hanging it off of a beaded necklace I picked up on sale at Forever 21. The peacock feather print dress is also from Etsy and comes from the shop sealmaiden. It is super comfy, stretchy jersey knit. And the long royal blue gloves were picked up from Amazon. If you're wondering about the giant diamond ring--my mom liked to wear ridiculous costume jewelry when she went to the casino, so I inherited quite few massive, fake jewels from her. (And some really lovely real ones, too.)
And I haven't done it yet, but I think the final touch will be to use a bit of blue nail polish on the sole of my heels to bring some of that blue down to my feet. I'll post a pic if it turns out well.
This last picture is of me cracking up after about 50 shots of my husband telling me to throw my hip that way and suck it in this way and straighten up and move that foot an inch to the right and so an and so forth. I am glad he did, though, because I had a pot belly and double chins in the the first shots we took before all the sucking and tucking and twisting and turning. Now if I could only have him follow me around at the party and remind me to not let my arms touch my body and throw my foot out at a 45 degree angle!

It's purrrrfect! Love that you pulled from the movie, can't wait to meet you Marigold, you have a fabulous name btw
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stacy! I'm so excited, I can't stand it!
