Black Friday!

Dreadful Girl is open for Black Friday weekend! This is ALL of my stock (minus a few reserved for flash sales). I may have one more itty bitty upload (maybe 10 bags) before Christmas, but if you want a cozy, now is the time to get them!

Eat Make Grow

Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you to all of you who share your projects on Eat, Make, Grow and inspire us!
Marigold here from Hideous! Dreadful! Stinky! You'll notice that there is no Linky attached to this week's blog hop. Foy, Miranda and I are working on some changes to Eat, Make, Grow that we hope you'll love as much as we do. We'll be making an announcement with all of the details soon. In the meantime, here are the featured posts from the last week:

This week's most popular post was this adorable wool and silk winter skirt on Mandy Made. I just love the mix of the heavy wool contrasting with the sweet, summery silk lining peeking out underneath. I'd love to make one for myself. Hmm. Maybe a Winter of No Pants is in order??

And my choice this week is this wrapped branch centerpiece by Haeley over at Design Improvised. I love this because it reminds me of my grandma. I know it's the wrong holiday, but every Easter we would seek out the perfect branch to display and hang our decorated eggs from it. So whenever I see a branch centerpiece, I get a little sentimental. This is a lovely twist on a classic. You should also check out the how-to for the table runner under this centerpiece. It's a kid-friendly project that could easily be adapted with winter colors for the upcoming holidays.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, everyone. Please don't trample anyone at the Wal-Mart tomorrow, and come back soon to hear about the changes to your favorite blog hop and mine, Eat, Make, Grow!

Patchwork Santa Ana

I'll be at the Patchwork Indie Arts & Crafts Show in Santa Ana this Sunday, November 25th. If you live in Southern California and you've never been to a Patchwork show, you should definitely come and check it out. It's like being able to walk around Etsy. There are so many amazing vendors and it's a great place to get a lot of holiday shopping done, and support handmade merchants.

I'll be at The Makery's booth (on Sycamore between 2nd and 3rd Streets) from 11:00-2:00 doing make-and-takes of these cute Winter Friends finger puppet gift cards. Come by, say hello, and take one of these cuties home!

Tea Towels for Mei Mei and A Big Thank You!

My little niece  Mei Mei, thinks of me as her own personal sweat shop. She tells me what she wants, and I have to make it. Now. She could care less about my no-customs-EVER-seriously-I-mean-it policy, and somehow she manages to break me every time. If you've been here for awhile, you've seen the multiple aprons I have made for her for her play kitchen. This time she asked me for demanded tea towels.

So, despite all of the work that I have piled up this week, I dropped everything last night to make these two tea towels for my darling little Mei Mei. I used simple, unbleached muslin and did super simple machine embroidery for the bunting line and balloon strings. The bunting flags and balloons are stamped on. And, finally, I made the little duck illos, stars and wrote her name in fabric marker.

And, one more thing I have to tell you about! Do you remember my pathetic plea to have you re-pin a project for me to help me win tickets and teach a Design Camp at Alt Summit this January? Well, I won! I couldn't believe it, and I seriously felt all my blood drain from my head and almost fainted right here at my computer when I saw the email. I'm not kidding, I was that excited! So thank you, thank you, thank YOU to everyone who helped me get this amazing opportunity. I promise I will be a complete dork and gush all over my favorite bloggers!
The other two winners made pretty awesome projects, too. So definitely check them out!

Eat Make Grow #16

Welcome to this week's Eat Make Grow Blog Hop where you share what you have been eating with your family, growing in your garden or making with all your creative impulses. Eat Make Grow is a collective link party that is shared across three blogs and runs every Thursday-Tuesday. Whichever blog that you choose to link up your post, it will show up on all three sites! Eat Make Grow is a way to share with many people posts about your domestic doings, whether that’s growing veggies, hosting parties, sewing, mixing up cleaning supplies, or trying out a new recipe. We want to learn about it! Every week, we will feature the most popular link, and one chosen by the the host.

Your Hosts:
We’re not big fans of rules so there are just two of them:
1. Link up posts telling us how you cooked it, made it or grew it with your own hands. Eat Make Grow is about sharing our projects. Please no advertising, propaganda, corporate giveaways or informative articles. We may remove links if they aren't on topic.

2. Please link your posts back to one of the hosting blogs. This is a common blog hop courtesy. This link helps build the Eat Make Grow community by sending your readers to all of the other participants' posts. We will feature two posts each week and we will only consider posts that have a link back. A text link is fine, or you can grab this button and put it anywhere on your blog:

This week, your host is Foy from Garden. Cook. Write. Repeat..

It's a week before Thanksgiving!  How did that happen? Are you ready?  Yesterday I was making my holiday cookie plan.  I am going to make the dough in advance and freeze it.  Then in a fit of holiday cheer with Christmas Carols on full blast I'll bake up a million cookies!  Well, not quite a million, more like 12 dozen.

The most clicked article was: Raw Zucchini Noodles: Easy & Versatile from A Life Unprocessed.  Mellow writes, "Zucchini noodles are quick and easy, and unquestionably healthy. They go great with pesto, marinara, curry, Alfredo, or any other savory sauce you can dream up."

My pick is Holiday EggNog made with Farm Fresh Eggs from Fresh Eggs Daily.  This recipe looks divine. I'm all about some hooch in the punch, and she says it is also good sans alcohol. I'm planning on bringing some farm fresh eggs home to make some this Christmas with our family.  Perhaps a new tradition?

Workshop: Packaging

This weekend I will be hosting a 2-hour packaging and gift wrapping workshop at The Makery in Anaheim, California. In this class, we will learn techniques from start to finish for creative and professional packaging and gift wrapping. If you've followed this blog for awhile, you know that I am crazy for packaging. I even wrote a 3-part tutorial on how to perfectly and professionally wrap a gift.

In the workshop, I'll show you how to do that. I'll also show you how to tie the perfect bow, make tissue paper flowers and toppers, gift tags, itty-bitty envelopes and more! There will be demonstrations on easy ways to do beautiful hand lettering, material and color choices, and embellishments galore! I'll do some demos and we'll do some craft-alongs together. Plus, there will be a gift topper station, card and tag making station and you'll get to try out different materials and techniques. Washi tape! Pom poms! Doilies! Oh my!

The fee includes all of your supplies, and you'll go home with the various gift toppers and tags made during the workshop, as well as hand-outs with step by step instructions detailing what we learned, and new techniques to try out at home!

SIGN UP ONLINE
Sunday, November 18 from 2pm-4pm
Sunday, December 9 from 2pm-4pm

And, remember, I have a Baby Booties class coming up on Sunday, too!

I have more workshops coming up! Sign up to receive email alerts for upcoming craft and sewing workshops.
