A Winner and Another Book Review & Giveaway! Crafting with Cat Hair!

We have a Big Winner for the Microcrafts book giveaway! Congratulations to Mary Goutermont Standard! Congratulations Mary! I will be contacting you shortly to send you your fabulous prize.

And if you are not Ms. Mary, don't be too sad, because I have another fun crafting book from Quirk to giveaway today. This time it is Crafting with Cat Hair.
Yeah, that's what I said. Crafting with Cat Hair.
I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, "Eww."  But lets step away from your usual image of the pile of dusty cat hair under your couch for a second and think about this rationally. Cat hair, brushed lovingly from your cat, really isn't any grosser than, say, the sheep's wool used to make felt. Or the rabbit fur used for an angora sweater. See? Yeah, you're coming around. Let's talk about it some more and see if I can fully convince you.

I made portraits of my two girls, Babs and Lolita, using the techniques in this book.

See?? Cuter than you thought, right? And there are a bunch of very cute projects in here, and some surprisingly sophisticated ones. I was surprised at how beautiful some of the projects were.

The book was originally published in Japan and was picked up by Quirk and translated to English. It definitely has that translated-from-Japanese feel to it, too. There are pictures of cats throughout the book with talking bubbles coming from them saying silly things.

Definitely a fun, funny gift to give to a cat-loving crafter. And it's less than 10 bucks on Amazon! And it's even LESS if you win my copy!

Here's how to win it:

  1. Sweet! I have a cat that sheds more fur than you could shave off a sheep, plus two more "normal" cats. And I'm pretty sure I "like" and "follow" you everywhere possible. Because I'm stalking you.
