Less Intense

Hello! Hello! Hello!
Have you missed me? I haven't been so great about updating here because I had kind of a crazy, exhausting month. My husband is in the bike industry, and it was trade show season, so he would be gone for a few days, home for a few days, gone for a week, home (jetlagged) for a week, then gone another week. I always have these grand ideas that I'm really going to get stuff done while he's gone! He won't be here to distract me and lure me into snuggledown time watching Glee on Netflix! But mostly I ended up passing out by 8:30 every night.
Plus, I totally started playing The Sims Social on Facebook and that eats up so much time that could be productive!
Huck also started Preppie-K this year. We are very lucky to have this program in our public school. It is more than a preschool program, but less rigorous than regular kindergarten, and is mostly for kids born in the second half of the year (Huck is a late September baby). They call it a two-year kindergarten program. Although, on his record it will look like he repeated kindergarten. Anyway, it is really an adjustment for me to have to have such a regular daily routine again! We have to be out the door every day by 8:00 and then Milo and I have to pick him up just before noon. And twice a week he is still a peer model at Autism Partnership. So I have 15 minutes to shove food down the boys' throats before rushing off to that. It's not really a hard schedule, or anything, but it is *a* schedule, and I have to adjust to that!
Most of my creative energy lately has been spent on re-doing my living room. We are apartment dwellers, and so I am always convinced that "we'll be moving soon!" even though we have absolutely no prospects of going anywhere. I have been "about to move" for the past three years, and I finally, finally decided to try out living where I live. So we painted that yellow accent wall, and hung some art and put down the good carpet that's been in storage, and made some throw pillows for the couch, and there's more in the works. It is nice to walk into a room that has personality. Our bedroom is next. It has basically been a hiding space for my crafts and a messy office and crap storage.
And as for this here blog, well, October should be a much more active month. I have down-graded my ideas for a Handmade Halloween Costume series. I reached out to a lot of bloggers and sponsors, but was met with a whole lot of rejection! Not, like, mean rejection, or anything. But lots of bloggers/crafters/shop owners are so busy this time of year that it was difficult for me to pull off what I wanted to pull off. So you'll still be getting a lot of great content from the wonderful bloggers who agreed to stick with me, and I'll be showing you what I'm doing for my family's costumes, but I'm afraid I'll be nixing the costume contest and there won't be a daily post like I originally intended to have for you. It will still be great, though, so stick around for that.
AND! My new schedule dictates that I need to get a move on packing lunch and picking up my kid from school! Later, gators!
