Booties for Macy

This is a pair of booties that I made for a very special little girl. Her nickname in utero was "Squirt," hence the squirty octopus theme.

I love this color combo. This is also the third pair (camera was out of commission for the first two, sorry!) of booties that I have done in this style of combining applique with hand drawn fabric marker illustration. I really love the simplicity and the whimsical feel of this method and hope to eventually get on my sewing machine again someday to experiment more in this direction.

Custom Blankets and Booties

I recently completed a custom order for a customer who bought this pair of booties and then found out that the friend she had purchased them for was having twins. So she needed something that matched for a baby girl.

She also ordered a matching set of custom crib blankets. These were fun to design and make--my first blankets! I added some chewy tags/ribbons to the sides for the babies to explore.

Garlic Seed Snack

This is my new favorite snack for a salty fix. A good source of protein, too.

Garlic Seed Snack

1 clove of garlic, smashed & roughly chopped
1/2 cup raw pepitas
1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds
1 Tbs. olive oil
salt

Heat olive oil in a pan over medium high heat. Add garlic and cook until soft - about 1-2 minutes. Add pepitas and sunflower seeds. Stir occasionally until seeds brown and puff and pop (watch out for some jumpers!). Once the popping starts, stir constantly and keep a close watch so that they don't burn. Spread onto paper towels to cool and absorb oil. Sprinkle over with salt as desired while still hot.
Yum yum!
