Gifts for the Boyn Family

I love bonnets and have been wanting to make one for a long time. This sweet little bonnet and booties set is for new baby Clara. I think these came out so cute, and it was pretty easy to make. I think I'm going to start featuring these in my shop as new baby gift sets for girls. I find that my booties for boys seem to sell much faster than my stuff for girls--maybe because Etsy is so girl-centric so there is less competition for my boy stuff. Maybe pulling together sets like this will move the girl booties more quickly.

And a little travel crayon roll-up for her big brother, to go with a big fat Thomas the Tank Engine coloring book. The fabric I used on this was quite thick, so it's not as neat on the edges and corners as I would have liked. Steve says it has a "handmade feel" but I think that is a nice way of saying "poor craftmanship" :/
Ahh well, I still think it is cute enough to give, I just have to make more and perfect the technique. The carrot car illustration is from fabric I found at Ikea in the children's section. Ikea is my new favorite fabric place. They have really cute stuff and super cheap, too!

NO on Prop 8 on Etsy

These items are currently available in my Etsy shop. 100% of profits from these sales will be donated to the effort to repeal California's Proposition 8. Please visit this post on my personal blog, Hot Air, to read about my decision to be a "craftivist" for this cause.

If you wish to purchase an item that you see here, but it is no longer available in the shop, please contact me (sadsilver at gmail dot com) for a custom job.
