These are the materials for my latest sewing project--a diaper backpack for myself. Two kiddos means I'll need free hands, so I need a backpack and not a single shoulder bag/purse. I scoured
Etsy for a diaper backpack that wasn't either too big or too ugly, and I couldn't find one that fit that criteria. Well, that's not true. I did find some beautiful stuff, but all too far out of my price range. So I sketched out what I wanted and went a-shoppin' for fabric. Jo-Ann's had nice, thick chocolate brown material for the outside of the bag, and I found the linen fabric in the remnant bin. I think I'll appliqué one of
Steve's illustrations to the outside. I'm also lucky to live a few blocks from an huge fabric shop called Jenny's Fabrics, which has a great selection of cotton fabrics like the
Michael Miller print pictured here. I also used Michael Miller in the
apron for Mei and
toy for Iggy.
Mostly, though, I am excited to make a project that is all for me, me, ME! I have been a sewing fiend lately, but everything I've made over the past few months has been a gift.
